Originality Matters...

"Don't worry if people don't like you. Most people are struggling to like themselves."

In this world full of fake people and imitators, people have forgotten how to differentiate between what’s real and what’s not. Everything seems to be about what others will say and what society will assume. If you wear a short skirt, ‘Hey! Don’t wear that. Don’t you have any shame? What will people say?’ or even if you want to show someone your work, ‘It’s not that pretty...’ ‘What will they say? Will they laugh at me?’ From pondering about what we should wear the next morning to considering a million times before saying something, we have all gone through this phase of life where the judgment of people matters more than what we want.

There are a variety of people around us with different mindsets. What’s right for one person may be wrong for another one. Or maybe what one might do in a situation, the other may not do. It’s all about the way we assume things and what we feel. So, to say that others must appreciate our decisions and actions is like asking a fish to climb a tree; something which ain’t possible. I presume if people would stop speculating about society and start figuring out what is best for them, it will make this world a much better place. People won’t go into depression and children won’t fight with their parents for the latest gadgets. People will be a lot more confident in their skin than they are now.

The starting point of this new idea has to come from within every person. Instead of judging others, we should seek the wonderful qualities within them. Instead of demotivating someone based on how they appear to be, we should compliment them for their work and good nature. Our support can change someone’s life while we might not even realize it. However, this has to start with ourselves. Instead of doing what others expect us to do, we must do what is beneficial for us. For example, instead of doing something for attention, we shall do what makes us happy as a person. And if art isn’t that thing, then we shall not even have to do it.

Our hobbies shape our personality and doing something which gives us peace along with happiness will lead us to positivity in our life. Whereas, always focusing on other’s opinions might lead us into self-hatred and depression if we cannot achieve their expectations. I am not saying everything society says has to be wrong, but the way we intercept things matters a lot. Instead of focusing on what others expect and want us to do, we should start working on what we like and what we are impassioned about. And when we are original, the world accepts our ideals, and that is when we realize that it was never about what others wanted from us or what they expected us to do. It was always about what choices we took in our life and how those choices shaped our future.
