Sometimes, we find ourselves in the middle of a journey without fully understanding why we began it in the first place. Questions start swirling in our minds, often keeping us awake at night.
Was the cause strong enough? Would it succeed? Will I ever make it?
Recently, I’ve been asking myself these questions a lot more often. Thoughts like, “What value am I truly adding to someone’s life through my work?”, “Why am I doing this?”, "Am I just wasting everyone’s time?” linger long after the lights go out. And sometimes, I can’t convince myself fully. I drift off to sleep still unsure about my life choices and decisions.
There is this notion that if you’re pursuing something of your own, you must feel passionate and certain about it all the time. That you need to have unwavering faith in your idea, always feeling a burning sense of purpose. But I beg to differ.
There will be days when your vision is hazy, when your perseverance falters, and when doubts creep in like shadows at dusk. And that’s okay. One doesn’t need to feel completely put together all the time. It’s human to feel overwhelmed and unsure, to second-guess the path you’ve chosen. Sometimes, we overlook our small milestones and convince ourselves that we haven’t achieved anything significant yet. This only deepens our uncertainty.
But what matters more than unwavering confidence is the ability to rise from those moments of doubt. To look at yourself and say, “Maybe I’m not there yet. But I will make a difference, no matter what.” To hold on to your beliefs and values even when your mind tells you that you’re not good enough. Resilience is built in these moments—not when everything feels certain, but when everything feels fragile, and you still choose to move forward.
The fact that you’re trying to make this world a better place, even in small ways, speaks volumes about your character. In a tunnel full of darkness, you’re a small flame fighting to bring light. Every little flame faces its own battles: the rain that tries to extinguish it, the wind that threatens to blow it out. But every flame that endures grows brighter and stronger.
And here’s the truth: What shapes a person is often the same thing that tries to break them. Your losses, your doubts, and your struggles will build you. They’ll deepen your foundations and strengthen your resolve. It’s in the face of these challenges that your character is forged.
Maybe you don’t have it all figured out. Maybe your path feels uncertain, and your destination remains a blur. But does that really matter? Life isn’t a race to some final, flawless outcome. It’s a journey meant to be lived fully—the happiness and the sorrow, the highs and the lows, the doubts and the discoveries.
So, the next time you find yourself questioning everything, remind yourself that it’s okay to feel lost. Because even in the uncertainty, you’re moving forward. And perhaps, that’s all that truly matters.
