Ice Cold

Updated: Dec 23, 2021

That icy look you had in your eyes,

Made me remember the fake promises and your lovely lies.

How you made it look as if it didn't matter,

As if you knew how it felt to be slaughtered.

You made me feel weak, fighting for you,

When I saw all the signs, I knew.

But I never gave up for I loved you,

But I wish you saw how it hurt me, if only you knew.

Your bitter words cut through my heart,

You wound me deeply, you behaved smart.

My eyes begged you to look more,

But the way you turned your back shook me to the core.

The way you left me that night in the dark,

I stood there alone, an easy prey to the sharks.

The cold winters came early in my life,

When you didn't stop, not even when I cried.

Then realization dawned upon me,

As if someone poured an icy bucket of water, it made me see.

You didn't love me, it was a mad craze you had,

For which I paid the price, through the tears I shed.

Maybe I could have saved you,

But could I have stayed sane? Stayed true?

Your faded memories haunt me till date,

Making me insane, making me wait.

But I lost the warmth I found in you,

A feeling I craved when I was lost in hue.

My weak heart is still in your insane hold,

And you left me broken, you left me ice cold.
